Sanrio Character Rankings 2025 — Pompompurin Takes the Crown
The results of the annual Sanrio Character Ranking were announced on June 29, 2025. Pompompurin claimed first place with around 5.6 million votes, narrowly overtaking last year’s winner Cinnamoroll, who finished with around 5.4 million votes. In total, more than 63 million votes were cast worldwide, showing Sanrio’s enduring global appeal.
My Melody & Kuromi Debut on Netflix Worldwide
The stop-motion series My Melody & Kuromi premiered globally on July 24, 2025 via Netflix. This special celebrates My Melody’s 50th and Kuromi’s 20th anniversaries with a whimsical Mariland adventure. The theme song is performed by LE SSERAFIM and produced by Gen Hoshino, adding a modern touch to the nostalgic style.
Chiikawa Park Opens in Tokyo
Chiikawa Park officially opened at Sunshine City in Tokyo on July 28, 2025. To mark the launch, giant plush versions of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi were displayed along Ikebukuro Station’s Azalea Road from August 4–10. Fans flocked to the area to take photos and enjoy interactive displays.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle — Part 1 Smashes Box Office
The latest Kimetsu no Yaiba film, Infinity Castle — Part 1, premiered in Japan on July 18, 2025 and has already become the seventh highest-grossing Japanese animated film of all time, earning over ¥17.6 billion in just over two weeks. UK fans can look forward to its theatrical release on September 12, 2025.
